Volunteer Opportunities

We are an all-volunteer organization.

We can't function without help from our members. Email president@pgcgs.org for more information or to volunteer.

Newsletter Help

We provide an index of subjects and names for each volume of our newsletter, the Bulletin. It requires a careful reading of each issue, noting subjects of articles and also individuals named on each page. The subject index is done as a Word document, then saved as a PDF file. Names are listed on an Excel spreadsheet. If you are a Mac user, you would use Pages and Numbers and export them as Word and Excel files. Final formatting is done later. If you would be willing to contribute to this effort, please email webmaster@pgcgs.org.

Or, write an article -- submit your idea to the newsletter editor for review. Email jawhitejr@bellsouth.net with your idea. Book reviews of relevant books, stories of interesting ancestors, research breakthroughs and exploration of little-known sources are all ideas for contributions.

Treasurer

The treasurer keeps a current, complete, true and correct record of all receipts and disbursements and all financial transactions of the society; files simple quarterly sales tax forms and annual taxes on a post card. Abundant help and guidance is available.

Website Committee

Our web administrator created our website using Easynetsites programming and is the only member who has full range of access to update, improve and make changes to our website. We need others on board who could assist in providing this service. Documentation and in-person help is available. It's called Easynetsites for a reason: very easy to learn and maintain. This service could easily be done remotely.

Membership Committee

The Membership chair maintains the membership files, processes new memberships, sends email reminders and welcoming letters. Our current chair is happy in this position, but could occasionally use some help. This job could be done remotely. Guidance, encouragement, and support provided in abundance.

Publicity Committee

The Publicity committee promotes the society by sending meeting flyers to library branches, newspapers and other sources of advertisement. This is a job for a creative person who can find ways to get our name and mission out there.
